Commercial Door Astragals: Grade 1 Security & Weather Seals
Maintain the security and code compliance of your double-door openings with our professional collection of commercial door astragals. At DoorwaysPlus, we stock high-performance meeting stile solutions from industry leaders Pemko Mfg, Hager, and All Metal Stamping. Our inventory is specifically engineered to solve the most common architectural challenges: preventing unauthorized prying on exterior doors and blocking the infiltration of smoke, light, and sound through the vertical gap of a pair.
From Pemko’s precision-engineered weatherstripping to the heavy-duty security plates from All Metal Stamping and Hager, these Grade 1 products are essential for passing life-safety inspections. Whether you are outfitting a new construction project with screw-applied security astragals or retrofitting a fire-rated corridor with adhesive-backed smoke rated astragals, our selection ensures a durable, permanent seal that meets UL 10C and S-Label requirements.

Screw-Applied Astragals
Screw-applied astragals are the premier choice for high-security and heavy-duty environmental sealing. Mechanically fastened to the door leaf, these units from Hager, Pemko, and All Metal Stamping provide a permanent bond that withstands heavy traffic and attempted forced entry. We feature overlapping steel security plates and adjustable meeting stiles with brush or neoprene inserts. These are ideal for exterior outswing doors where durability and a rigid weather barrier are the primary objectives.
Adhesive Applied Astragals
Adhesive-applied astragals (commonly known as smoke seals) offer a streamlined, cost-effective way to achieve S-Label smoke and draft control. These "peel-and-stick" solutions from Pemko are designed to adhere directly to the door edge, compressing to fill the gap without hindering operation. They are the industry-standard solution for interior fire-rated doors in hospitality and healthcare settings where a discreet, code-compliant seal is required.
Replacement Fasteners
Secure installation is critical to the performance of door protection hardware. We stock a full range of Rockwood fasteners, including standard stainless steel TEK screws.
Astragal Gap & Clearance Guide
When selecting an astragal, you must measure the distance between the two meeting stiles. An improper fit can lead to latches not engaging or smoke seals failing to compress.
1. Measuring the Clearance
- Standard Clearance: Most commercial hollow metal doors require a 1/8-inch clearance between the meeting stiles.
- Wide Gaps: If the gap is larger than 1/4-inch, a standard adhesive smoke seal may not reach. In these cases, a screw-applied astragal with an adjustable brush or neoprene insert is required to bridge the distance.
2. Hardware Compatibility
- Standard Locks: If using a standard lever or deadbolt, a flat security astragal (like those from All Metal Stamping) can be applied to the pull side.
- Exit Devices: If the doors have vertical rod exit devices, you must ensure the astragal does not interfere with the rod or the latching mechanism.
