Choosing the Right Stop for Your Facility
Selecting the correct stop depends on the expected traffic and the wall/floor conditions of your opening:
- Wall Bumpers (Wall Stops): The most common and economical choice. These are ideal for offices and interior rooms where the door opens against a solid wall. Our Convex Wall Bumper features a concealed mounting for a clean, tamper-resistant look.
- Floor Stops & Dome Stops: Best for doors that do not open near a wall or for heavy exterior doors. Use a "Dome Stop" for low-clearance areas and a "High-Rise Floor Stop" if you have a thick threshold or carpet.
- Kick-Down Holders: A favorite for storage rooms and loading docks. These allow a user to flip the holder down with their foot to keep the door open, featuring a non-marring rubber shoe to protect your floors.
- Overhead Stops: Often used on high-end or heavy-duty doors where floor or wall stops would be a tripping hazard or an eyesore. These are mounted to the top of the door and the frame.
Finish & Durability
Most of our stops are available in standard architectural finishes including US26D (Satin Chrome), US10B (Oil Rubbed Bronze), and US3 (Polished Brass). For high-moisture or exterior environments, we recommend stainless steel options to prevent corrosion and staining.
