HMC Door Pressure Gauge - DPG

This instrument is capable of measuring the entire range of forces found in servicing interior and exterior doors. With a 0-35 pound force range, it effectively covers all common applications. Additionally, the gauge provides readings in kilograms, offering a range from 0 to 15.9 kg.

  • Range in Pounds: 0-35 lbs
  • Range in Kilograms: 0 to 15.9 kg

This dual-unit capability ensures versatility and ease of use, catering to both standard and metric preferences. Whether you're working on heavy-duty exterior doors or lighter interior ones, this gauge delivers precise measurements for optimal performance.

HMC Door Pressure Gauge DPG Operation Instructions

Set the top (small) O Ring located on the plunger rod on zero, down against the instrument's flange, or on desired maximum force.
Holding the Instrument firmly, press slowly against a given door at a point approximately handle high and 30 inches toward the handle from the door's hinges.
Read the amount of force required to open the door on the plunger scale closest to the bottom of the small O ring.

Why a Door Pressure Gauge is Essential for Accessibility

In facilities striving for full accessibility, ensuring that all doors are easily operable is critical. Here's why a door pressure gauge is invaluable for such settings:

  • Ensures Compliance with ADA Standards: A door pressure gauge helps measure the force required to open a door. This measurement ensures compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, which specify that doors should not require more than five pounds of force to open.
  • Enhances Ease of Access: By using a door pressure gauge, facilities can fine-tune doors to open smoothly and with minimal effort. This ease of access is crucial for individuals with physical disabilities, who might find heavy doors a significant barrier.
  • Promotes Safety: When doors require too much force to open, they can pose a safety risk. A door pressure gauge helps prevent this by allowing regular monitoring and adjustments, ensuring that doors remain safely accessible to everyone.
  • Facilitates Regular Maintenance: Regular use of a door pressure gauge enables facilities to track the performance of their doors over time, making it easier to schedule maintenance before issues become more severe.
  • Increases User Independence: Doors adjusted for minimal pressure increase independence for those who use wheelchairs or have limited strength, allowing them to navigate spaces without needing assistance.

Using a door pressure gauge not only ensures compliance with accessibility laws but also significantly enhances the quality of life for users, fostering a more inclusive environment.

Meet ADA Requirements and Satisfy Codes Pertaining to Fire and Elevator Doors

Ensure your building's accessibility with precision. Our door pressure gauge measures the exact amount of force required to open doors, providing readings in both pounds and kilograms. This allows you to determine if your doors align with ADA regulations, which specify the maximum allowable force for door operation.

By using this gauge, not only do you enhance accessibility for individuals with disabilities, but you also ensure compliance with essential safety and accessibility codes for fire and elevator doors.
