A key in the outside lever will always retract the latchbolt. For maximum safety, rotating the inside lever always provides immediate, free egress and automatically releases the turn button to prevent accidental lockouts. To defend against unauthorized entry, the deadlocking latch protects against "shimming," while the freewheeling lever design protects the internal chassis from damage if the handle is forced while in the locked position.
