Sargent 774-4 ETL Fail-Secure Electrified Exit Lever Trim – 24VDC

This is intended for:

  • Narrow Stile (8400 Series) and Wide Stile (8600 Series) Concealed Vertical Rod Exit Devices

The Sargent 774-4 ETL is an industrial-grade electrified outside trim designed for high-security environments that require the exterior to remain locked even during a power loss. Engineered for use with Sargent 80 Series Concealed Vertical Rod (CVR) exit devices—specifically the 8400 Narrow Stile and 8600 Wide Stile series—this trim provides a clean, architectural look while offering robust access control. Featuring Fail-Secure operation and EcoFlex technology, it is an energy-efficient solution for modern security perimeters.

High-Security Fail-Secure Engineering

The 774-4 ETL is the professional choice for facilities where maintaining a secure exterior is the highest priority.

  • Fail-Secure (Power-to-Unlock): In this configuration, the lever remains locked when power is removed. Access is only granted when the building's security system applies 24VDC power to the trim. This ensures that the door remains a high-strength barrier even during power outages or system failures.
  • EcoFlex Technology: This electrified trim utilizes EcoFlex circuitry, which reduces power consumption by up to 95% compared to traditional electrified hardware. With an ultra-low continuous draw of only 15mA, it minimizes heat buildup and allows for more devices per power supply.
  • Vandal-Resistant Design: The 700 Series ETL design is through-bolted to the door chassis, providing ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 durability. The rugged construction is built to withstand the heavy use typical of schools, healthcare facilities, and government offices.
  • Concealed Vertical Rod Integration: The -4 suffix indicates the specialized mounting configuration required for precise alignment with Sargent’s concealed rod systems, maintaining the door's clean aesthetic without compromising security.

High-Intent Commercial Applications

The Sargent 774-4 ETL 24VDC is a critical component for facility managers who prioritize electrified exterior security and remote access management.

  • Campus Security: Ideal for perimeter doors on university buildings or K-12 schools that must remain locked by default.
  • Healthcare Facilities: Provides secure access control for restricted medical wings where "Fail-Secure" is a mandatory safety protocol.
  • Corporate & Government: Enables remote unlocking via card readers or central command while ensuring the physical security of the opening remains intact during power loss.
  • Life-Safety Compliance: While the exterior is access-controlled, the interior 80 Series CVR exit device always ensures immediate, free egress for building occupants.

Critical Ordering & Installation Notes

  • Handing Required: This electrified trim is handed and is not field-reversible. You must confirm and specify Left Hand Reverse (LHR) or Right Hand Reverse (RHR) based on your door swing when placing your order.
  • No Key Override: The 774 function is a purely electrified control with no cylinder backup. If you require a manual key override in addition to electronic control, please inquire about the 776 ETL series.
  • Power Requirements: To ensure peak performance and protect the EcoFlex actuator, always use a filtered and regulated 24VDC power supply
