Sargent 8205 BHW Office/ Entry Function Mortise Lockset - Ligature Resistant
The Sargent 8205 BHW is an elite Grade 1 Ligature-Resistant Mortise Lockset specifically engineered for high-risk behavioral health environments, psychiatric hospitals, and correctional facilities. Built upon the industry-leading Sargent 8200 Series chassis, this lockset provides the highest level of physical security while prioritizing patient safety. The BHW trim features specialized sloped surfaces and a tapered design to minimize potential attachment points, making it an essential component for any comprehensive suicide prevention strategy in clinical office and entry applications.
Professional Office & Entry Function (ANSI F04)
The 8205 function is designed for staff offices or entry points within a behavioral health unit that require versatile locking options to maintain security without compromising patient safety.
- Dual Locking Control: The outside lever is made operative (unlocked) or rigid (locked) by the interior thumbturn or by a physical key from the exterior.
- Keyed Entry: When the exterior lever is locked, entry can only be gained by using a physical key in the LA Keyway cylinder to retract the latchbolt.
- Immediate Safe Egress: To ensure compliance with Life Safety codes, the inside lever is always free. This allows staff or occupants to exit the room instantly at any time without the use of a key or special knowledge.
- Deadlocking Latchbolt: Features a 3/4" throw stainless steel latchbolt with an auxiliary deadlatch that prevents "shimming" or unauthorized manipulation of the latch when the door is closed.
Specialized BHW Ligature-Resistant Trim
The BHW trim is the flagship of the Sargent Behavioral Health Series, designed to balance a therapeutic "normative" aesthetic with rigorous safety standards.
- Sloped & Tapered Surfaces: All components of the BHW lever and escutcheon are tapered to prevent the looping of cords, bedsheets, or other materials, significantly reducing the risk of ligature-related incidents.
- Integrated Lever & Escutcheon: The unique integrated design eliminates gaps between the lever and the rose/escutcheon where strings or small items could be wedged.
- Extreme Durability: The 8200 Series lockbody far surpasses ANSI/BHMA A156.13 Grade 1 requirements, tested to over 14 million cycles to withstand the most abusive healthcare environments.
- High-Security Fasteners: Supplied with Torx® security screws to prevent unauthorized tampering or removal of the hardware by patients.
