Sargent 8910 Mortise Exit Device
The Sargent 8910 is a high-performance Grade 1 Mortise Exit Device designed to provide maximum security and life-safety protection for commercial wood and metal doors. Unlike standard rim devices, the 8910 utilizes a mortise lock body concealed within the door stile, offering a concealed single-point guarded latching system that is highly resistant to tampering and prying. This heavy-duty panic bar is the preferred choice for high-traffic institutions, including schools, hospitals, and government buildings.
Advanced Security and Precision Engineering
Certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1 standards, the Sargent 8900 Series is built for extreme durability. It features a 3/4" anti-friction stainless steel latchbolt and a sliding-type guarded deadlatch to prevent "shimming" or unauthorized entry. For fire-rated openings, the 12-prefix configuration is UL10C Fire Rated, ensuring the device maintains the integrity of the fire barrier while providing immediate UL305 Panic Listed egress.
Versatile Configuration and Integrated Electronics
The 8910 is remarkably adaptable, supporting door widths from 24" to 48" through four distinct rail sizes (E, F, J, and G). It is fully compatible with modern access control systems, offering a variety of electric options such as Remote Latch Retraction (56-), Request-to-Exit (55-), and Latchbolt Monitoring (53-). For installers, using the QC12 ElectroLynx connector on the associated hinge is the optimal way to ensure a fast, reliable "plug-and-play" power connection.

Ordering & Handing Notes

Because the Sargent 8910 uses a mortise lock body and the C908 strike is handed, door handing (LHRB or RHRB) must be specified at the time of order. For elementary school applications, a 38" centerline is available, while 41" remains the standard height. For coastal or high-wind areas, this model can be ordered as the WS8900 for hurricane-resistant certification.
