The Sargent LB-8268 is the bare 8200 Series heavy-duty mortise lock body (case only) configured for the Privacy Bath/Bedroom function (ANSI F02). This is the non keyed lock case that drives the latchbolt and deadbolt; it is ordered separately from trim, cylinders and levers so you can rebuild or reconfigure an existing Sargent mortise opening without buying a complete lockset.
Privacy Bath/Bedroom Function Operation (ANSI F02)
The 8268 (Privacy Bath/Bedroom) function works as follows, per the Sargent catalog:
- Trim from either side retracts latchbolt at all times
- Thumbturn retracts and projects deadbolt
- Emergency release retracts and projects deadbolt -- by coin, screwdriver or Emergency key (14-0057) ordered separately
- Latchbolt and deadbolt are independent of each other

Lock Body (Case Only) -- Field-Configurable
This listing is the mortise lock case only. It accepts the standard Sargent 8200 Series lever trim, escutcheons/roses and cylinders sold separately, so it drops into an existing prepped door.
