Also known as "Lite Kits," our vision frames allow for light and safety monitoring in busy hallways, while our steel louvers provide essential ventilation for mechanical rooms and storage areas. We offer a wide range of sizes in gray primer and dark bronze finishes, designed to fit standard 1-3/4" thick commercial metal and wood doors.
Choosing Between Window Kits and Louvers
While both require cutting a "dropout" in the door, they serve very different purposes:
- Vision Lite Kits: Primarily used for safety. By installing a window kit, you prevent "door-swing" accidents in high-traffic areas like schools and hospitals. For fire-rated doors, ensure you select a frame and glass combination that matches the hourly rating of the door.
- Door Louvers: These are designed for ventilation. In mechanical or server rooms, airflow is required to prevent equipment overheating. Our Air Louvers Vane Type offer high-volume airflow while maintaining a sight-proof design for privacy.
Sizing Your Cutout
When ordering, remember that the "Order Size" usually refers to the cutout size in the door, not the outer dimensions of the frame. For example, a 12" x 12" window kit fits a 12" x 12" hole.
Compliance & Fire Ratings
Most of our Lite Kits are UL-listed for use in fire-rated doors. It is critical to pair these frames with the correct fire-rated glazing (glass) to maintain the integrity of the fire assembly. If you are replacing glass in a fire door, always verify the local code requirements for wire or ceramic glass.
