Fire Safety and Code Compliance
Compliance is the top priority in commercial construction. The Hager EC1105 meets ANSI K81071F standards and is tested for use on labeled fire doors. While NFPA 80 generally restricts architectural spring hinges to 3'0" x 7'0" openings, the Hager EC1105 has been tested and labeled for larger doors up to 4'0" x 8'0" when a minimum of three spring hinges are installed. This makes it a versatile solution for high-traffic fire-rated openings.
Engineered for Performance
Constructed from durable steel with steel components, these hinges feature a .134 gauge thickness and are designed specifically for 1-3/4" thick doors. To ensure proper operation and longevity of the opening, spring hinges must be used in conjunction with ball bearing hinges. Using plain bearing hinges with spring hinges is not recommended and may void compliance.

Recommended Hinge Configurations
To achieve the correct closing force based on door weight, follow these installation guidelines:
- Doors up to 70 lbs: 1 Spring Hinge (Use ECBB1100 ball bearing hinges for the remaining two).
- Doors up to 115 lbs: 2 Spring Hinges (Use ECBB1100 ball bearing hinge for the remaining one).
- Doors up to 150 lbs: 3 Spring Hinges.
