Designed for standard weight, medium frequency doors, spring hinges are an effective alternative to door closers in locations such as apartments, hotels, motels, and office buildings. Typically, at least two hinges on the door should be spring hinges to ensure adequate closing force. The NFPA stipulates that labeled doors must have a minimum of two (2) spring hinges. This series of non-handed spring hinges is adjustable, allowing users to increase or decrease tension with the included hex key. A locking screw provides added tamper resistance once the appropriate tension is achieved. The hinges are .134 inches thick and come with all necessary wood screws (1-1/4 x 12) and machine screws (1/2" x 12-24).
Warning: The use of gasketing for smoke or sound insulation, adverse wind conditions, unbalanced air pressure, misaligned or twisted frames and doors, door bottoms, or incorrect latch settings may hinder proper door latching. Additional spring hinges might be necessary.
